Ed began his landscaping career at London’s Clifton Nurseries in 1997, working on prestigious projects throughout London, the UK and Europe. With Clifton’s Ed helped to build three show gardens at Chelsea and lead the landscape division for four years. Ed then set up his own design and build practice in North West London, continuing his campaign to deliver gardens of exceptional quality and developing a deep understanding of plants and their relationship to our changing environment. This, combined with a passion for natural and reclaimed materials and years of hands on experience, has shaped a practical approach to creating gardens that flourish in their environment, mature beautifully and are designed to last.

In 2012, Ed moved to Suffolk with his young family and established his practice on the East Coast. Since then, he has designed, built and developed gardens large and small across Suffolk and beyond, from traditional country gardens to more contemporary landscapes. This breadth of work has reinforced his belief that the most beautiful gardens are those that respond naturally to their setting. He draws on his extensive plant knowledge using considered planting schemes that improve and evolve over time, working with our changing environment.

Underlying everything is Ed’s belief that a garden should never stand still. Thoughtful intervention in a garden over time allows planting to be refined making it increasingly beautiful, diverse and resilient as it matures.

Ed’s core values of sustainability are embedded in the way he works, in both the construction methods employed and the choices he makes in materials, planting and waste practices. Water is treated as a precious resource, captured and conserved wherever possible, often in beautiful and imaginative ways. Existing soils, plants and habitats are retained and enhanced, always working with the topography of the site. He strives to reduce the impact of construction on the land and improve biodiversity wherever possible, creating space for nature and for wildlife for his clients to share.
